Helpful info from the PCS Nurses

Dear PCS Families,
We hope you are all staying well during this trying time. During school facility closures, the nurses are continuing to work closely with schools and are here to support families with distance learning and any health-related concerns.
With the impact COVID-19 is having in California and in Sonoma County, it is important to stay up to date with factual information. We recommend avoiding sensational media to prevent increased anxiety and stress. Here are some sources where you can find factual information, recommendations, and updates regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in our local community and on the larger scale:
  • Sonoma County Health Department: Sonoma County Emergency and Preparedness Information
  • California Department of Public Health: COVID-19
  • Centers for Disease Control: Coronavirus (COVID-19)
  • World Health Organization: Coronavirus
We also want to remind you that social distancing and basic protective measures, such as handwashing and using facial coverings in public, are the best ways that we can all help to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and flatten the curve.

Check out our new library resource: Cameron’s Collection – Teen Mental Health eBooks.

It's true. One out of every five teens suffers from mental illness.* And even those of us who don't might be experiencing heightened anxiety and feelings of depression right now.

Cameron’s collection includes these eBook titles along with many others meant to help nurture and protect students’ mental health and wellness.

Use your @petk12.org email info (or sign in with Google) to access the collection.
Use this link (and use "cghs" to access), or go to our Library Catalog and search for the topic that interests you.
Your @petk12.org gives you access but check-outs are COMPLETELY anonymous.

THINGS TO DO

Hello Gauchos!!! I'll leave this post up for a bit. I just wanted to share some resources just in case you're watching siblings at home or looking for things to do. Here's the top 3 for my family this week:

1) On Instagram, check out @macbarnett. He's a local-ish author who does a story time every day around noon and again at 5pm. He's hilarious and always entertaining. Here's a longer list of authors doing similar things.

2) Don't forget about other public library resources! You can sign up for a free digital library card, and then check out their great platforms. My two favorite are Libby and Hoopla.

3. It doesn't have to all be digital. Make a comic book (any size of paper will do)! Or check out Dav Pilkey's resources (Dogman, Captain Underpants). You'll just need paper. You don't have to print anything out!

4. Keep in touch @bighouselibrary or via email.
